Bijan Mohseni Calderón joined the firm in 2021 as an associate in the litigation practice of Wohlner Kaplon Cutler Halford & Rosenfeld. He is a graduate of UCLA School of Law and Chapman University, and was a visiting student of Politics and Philosophy at New College, University of Oxford. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Mohseni Calderón was a litigation associate at an international law firm where he helped represent civil rights organizations in impact constitutional litigation, including before the United States Supreme Court. He left that firm to run for California State Assembly in a historic bid to be the first openly gay legislator elected from Orange County. Mr. Mohseni Calderón is an active public policy and legislative advocate and currently serves as an elected Delegate to the California Democratic Party where he is a member of the Labor Caucus, Chicano-Latino Caucus, and LGBT Caucus.
While in law school, Mr. Mohseni Calderón worked for United States District Judge Josephine L. Staton of the United States District Court for the Central District of California, and for Justice Brian M. Hoffstadt of the California Court of Appeal, Second District.
Mr. Mohseni Calderón is a first generation American, the first in his family to graduate from college, and the proud son of a mother who is a lifelong member of CSEA. He is a recipient of the Equality California Community Leadership Award, the Guardians of Justice Pro Bono Award, and received the Gold President’s Volunteer Service Award from President Barack Obama. Mr. Mohseni Calderón is admitted to the District of Columbia Bar and provisionally licensed by the State Bar of California.
